The nearly one thousand five hundred compositions that make up the musical found of the basilica of S. Maria in Trastevere in Rome, also included scores by Giuseppe Portelli, who was chapel-master in that very basilica for two years, from 1727 to 1729. His name is practically ignored by musical dictionares, encyclopedia or bibliographies, with the sole exception of Eitner Quellen-Lexicon where this composer is briefly mentioned just because of the office he held at the basilica .
